The Bido Box: an arcade box turned single-purpose video player, built for exactly one user — my brother. Big red buttons, one video each, hold to rewind.
My brother has Down syndrome and he loves VHS players — and VHS players are not a sustainable thing to keep buying in 2026. The Bido Box replaces them: a row of big red arcade buttons, each one a video, hold a smaller one to rewind.
Behind the buttons is a Mac mini running Bellvue with a different skin and a different control layer. The whole story — and why one user is enough — is in the writing.
Why it exists
Built because my brother loves VHS players, breaks about one a week, and nothing off the shelf keeps the press-and-see feedback loop that made them work for him.
